A detailed assessment of your dog will be completed along with a meet and greet with our trained staff member. We will ask any pertinent questions from your application in regards to your pet. Your dog will then be introduced in a calm environment with a few well-balanced dogs. As your dog becomes more comfortable, we will introduce them to more dogs and gradually integrate them into the main play action. Plan to leave your dog for a minimum of 5 hours for the evaluation.
That’s okay! Not every dog enjoys group play, and we understand that completely. For lodging guests, we can customize their stay with one-on-one playtimes, belly rubs, extra potty walks, brush-outs, and plenty of love from our caring staff—ensuring every dog feels comfortable, safe, and happy.
- All dogs must be current on DHLPP, Rabies, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and have a clean fecal test within the last 6 months (we now offer fecal testing in-house).
- Please send vaccination records before scheduling any appointments so we can keep all guests safe and healthy.
We require that dogs be at least four months old. This is for the safety of your puppy and for the safety of other dogs. Final vaccinations, including the first rabies vaccination, typically aren’t given until four months of age. Your dog must have received all puppy vaccinations.
- Daycare and lodging guests are welcome to arrive as early as 6:30 AM.
- To participate in group play, daycare dogs must be checked in by 1:00 PM.
- Lodging drop-offs must be here and checked in before 4:00 PM, as we’re unable to accept arrivals after that time.
Most of our staff members already have hands-on experience working with dogs. In addition, all employees are required to complete our rigorous in-house certification program for Dog Behavior and Daycare Management. To ensure the safety of the dogs in our care, our team is also trained in canine CPR and first aid, allowing them to respond effectively in case of any emergencies. And of course, our employees must love dogs! 🙂
We have a strict cleaning protocol that calls for daily cleaning and disinfecting of all play and overnight spaces. During playtime, all dog waste is promptly cleaned up, and the area is thoroughly sanitized. Food and water bowls, as well as toys, are sanitized daily. If a boarded dog soils their space, we quickly clean the area and launder any soiled bedding or personal items.
We prioritize the safety of your dog and take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of injury. As dogs engage in normal and healthy play activities, it is possible for them to incur small scratches or nicks. Serious injuries are quite rare but can happen, and we are well-equipped to handle any emergencies that may arise.
In the event of an injury or health concern, we immediately evaluate the situation and consult with your vet to determine the most appropriate course of action. Our primary focus is always the well-being of the dog. Depending on the severity of the situation, we will coordinate emergency care if needed or take them to their regular veterinarian for non-emergency situations. We understand the importance of transparency and will keep you informed throughout the process. Please note that in cases where an employee is required to stay at the vet's office for an extended period, additional fees may apply.
Our approach emphasizes open communication, ensuring the well-being of the dogs in our care, and maintaining strong partnerships with trusted veterinary professionals to provide the best possible outcomes for the animals in our care.
Absolutely! We’d love to show you around. Tours are welcome during regular business hours, and we recommend stopping by between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM when our team is best able to step aside and give you a more in-depth tour. For the safety of our guests, please do not bring your pet, as all pets entering the facility must have up-to-date vaccinations.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, check and cash payments.
Yes! We offer a discount for multiple dogs, but it is only available when your dogs stay in the same room. This ensures they remain comfortable together while allowing us to extend the discounted rate.
Spaying or neutering is not required for lodging. However, dogs participating in group play may be subject to additional requirements based on age, behavior, and safety. Females in heat are not accepted. Please call us to discuss your dog’s specific situation.
Yes, we can administer most oral and topical medications. Please bring all medications in the original prescription bottle with clear dosing instructions, and let us know what the medication is treating. For safety reasons, we do not administer injectable medications, including insulin. Additional medication administration fees may apply.
Yes! We’re always excited to welcome new pets and their families to the Karnik community.
Of course! We happily cater to all dogs, including those who prefer their own space. Each guest enjoys a private suite and personalized attention to ensure a comfortable, stress-free stay while ensuring safety for our other guests.
While our team is not on-site overnight, all pets are safely secured in their private suites with cozy bedding, toys, food, and anything else you’d like them to have for comfort. Our facilities are fully secured and monitored 24/7/365 through our professional security partner, who keeps constant watch over our cameras, fire and carbon monoxide detectors, freeze sensors, and break-in alarms—alerting our team immediately to any disturbances. Your pet’s safety and well-being are always our top priority.
We don’t currently have webcams in individual suites, but you can check in on your pup during the day through our daycare webcams located in our indoor play areas.
Not at this time. For the comfort and consistency of our guests, all pick-ups and drop-offs are during regular business hours.
Gingr is the reservation and pet management software we use to handle all bookings, forms, and vaccination records. It’s where you’ll create your account, schedule services, and manage your pet’s information—all in one convenient place.
Not at all! You’re welcome to call us directly for assistance with bookings. Our Gingr portal is available for your convenience, but our team is always happy to help you schedule services by phone.
Absolutely! You can log in anytime to update your contact details, pet information, vaccination records, and more.
Once you create an account, our team will contact you to schedule a temperament evaluation.
Once your request is received, a Karnik team member will contact you to confirm availability, review activity options, and ensure all vaccinations are current. At Karnik Maple Village, a deposit will be collected over the phone once your reservation is confirmed to secure your booking.
Yes. To modify a reservation, please call us directly so our team can assist you. Reservations may be canceled through the Gingr app, though we encourage calling to cancel so we can ensure your deposit is handled correctly (for Karnik Maple Village clients). Availability for changes is not guaranteed, especially during holidays and peak times, so we recommend contacting us as early as possible.
A safe, supervised environment where dogs can socialize, play, and engage in structured activities that support their mental stimulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote overall well-being. Regular social interaction and play have been shown to improve behavior, boost confidence, and help dogs feel more balanced and content.
- For drop-off daycare, any stay of over 5 hours is considered a full day, while 5 hours or less is a half day.
- For lodging dogs, half-day daycare includes group play until around noon, after which dogs return to their suites for rest and relaxation. Full-day daycare includes extended group play throughout the day.
Your dog will be booked for a lodging night (if available) and additional charges will apply.
This will depend on your dog. We have several older dogs that love the interaction with other dogs. Part of the way we separate dogs into our various play areas is dependent upon activity level, meaning that a larger, older dog may be placed with other older, mellow dogs of his similar size. The temperament evaluation will also help us, and you, determine if our environment is right for your dog. Our daycare attendants are constantly evaluating each dog’s behavior, and if they view your dog as overwhelmed or tired, they will place your dog back in their room or in a calmer atmosphere. At Karnik Toledo, we also offer private daycare options, which can be a great fit for older dogs.
No reservation is needed for daycare as long as your dog is an active group play member. Daycare drop-off is available until 1:00 PM, and we do not offer daycare drop-offs on Sundays
Yes! We offer packages ranging from 5 half days to 30 full days to fit every family’s schedule and budget. Packages never expire—and the more days you buy, the bigger the discount. Call us anytime for details or to purchase.
No, lodging rates cover your pet’s lodging and daily care during their stay. Meals are provided by the owner, or premium house food is available for an additional fee. Play and enrichment activities are customized to your pet’s preferences—you may choose daycare sessions, one-on-one private playtimes, or a mix of both to fit your dog’s needs and your budget.
We understand that delays happen, and we’ll continue caring for your dog until pick-up. If your dog’s stay extends beyond 24 hours, applicable activity charges will apply based on the activities your dog participates in (such as half-day daycare, full-day daycare, or other enrichment options).
To ensure your dog's dietary needs are met during their stay, we strongly recommend bringing their food from home. Each meal should be pre-portioned in an individual bag, including any necessary vitamins or supplements. Due to space constraints, we are unable to store large food containers or excess food. We can provide food for your pup at an additional fee, but please note that rapid changes in diet can sometimes lead to digestive issues.
You are welcome to bring your dog's own blanket to help them feel more at home. We provide comfortable beds for every dog during their stay, but due to variations in sizing, we advise against bringing your dog's personal bed. Our primary concern is the safety and comfort of all dogs in our care.
Yes, reservations are required for overnight lodging. This ensures we can properly prepare for your pet’s stay. In some cases, we may be able to accommodate same-day requests for evaluated dogs if you call ahead and space allows. Holidays and summer weekends fill quickly—Thanksgiving and Christmas often book several months in advance. Established clients can reserve online or by phone.
Yes! Our lodging packages are designed to make your pet’s stay even more enjoyable—and more affordable. From our Grand Champion Package with full days of daycare to personalized one-on-one playtime bundles, there’s an option for every dog and every family.
